Jamaal was born and raised in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. Upon graduating from high school, Jamaal enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude receiving a Bachelor of Science in English. He received his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Following his graduation from law school, Jamaal worked for Legal Aid of Arkansas, Inc. serving low income and underrepresented individuals. He went on to open his own law firm where he practiced various areas of the law including criminal and family law. Jamaal then went on to work for the State of Arkansas representing foster children as a full-time Attorney Ad Litem for six years.
After a brief stint in the political arena as a judicial candidate, Jamaal decided that his talents and gifts would be better served as an advocate for those who have been affected by unexpected and unfortunate life changing circumstances. His passion lies in assisting others who have had financial difficulties and need a fresh start to get back on track. He understands that life happens, but bankruptcy is not the end. It is a new beginning.
